Results

We hope you enjoyed your runs around the parkland around Cherry Hinton Hall. Even though it's not a very big area, the score course was quite challenging as it was easy to lose track of which of the 30 controls you'd got (hint: take a pen and cross them off!).

It was very disappointing to have two controls stolen (plus a third where we managed to find the culprits and get it back). Hopefully, this didn't spoil it too much for you. We made controls 219 and 225 optional, so if you missed them it didn't matter. For the score course, we made them score zero points.

Update: We found both of the missing controls dumped outside the park within a few days.

Controller's Comments

It was a pleasure to work with both Matt and Peter for this event. It was a pity that we lost the use of Churchill College part way through the planning process, but I think Matt did well as a novice planner to plan interesting courses on the rest of the area. The longer courses all had to involve a long run to get back to CMS for some challenging controls which I think were somewhat frustrating for some competitors. In hindsight maybe we should have tried to have a larger scale inset map for CMS, and maybe this is something which could be explored for next time. The weather on the day was ideal and hope you all enjoyed exploring the Madingley Rise site as much as I did.
